In her latest single, Duxius touches on her deepest emotions. The artist tells the story of her father who struggled with bipolar disorder.
Duxius' new album is coming even closer. So far, the material has been announced by two singles — Daredevil and Nie wierz? w spokój. This time, Edyta Rogowska, who hides under her musical pseudonym, presents her most honest and intimate musical story.
Dziki Bez (Wild Elderberries) is a universal story, though inspired by real events and experiences of the artist. Her father suffered for years from bipolar affective disorder, a condition in which periods of mania are interspersed with depressive states. Edyta, while still a child, could not fully comprehend the situation. It was only years later that she understood that it was her father, an unfulfilled musician with big dreams, who instilled artistic sensitivity in her.
Duxius about her newest single:Dziki Bez - that's what Krzysiek ?ciera?ski once called my father, Irek. Since then, Irek wanted to be addressed by that name. Ten years after his death, at a time of acceptance of his loss, I came to understand who my father was and found myself in his story. That's why I decided to write a song about him under this title. This song fulfils the 'Dziki Bez' dream of being an artist and completes me artistically. I feel that, in this song, the past merges with the present and gives me faith that anything is possible.
For the artist, the song is a symbol of acceptance, understanding and forgiveness of the many events she could not understand as a little girl. It is a tender embrace between daughter and father, who did not manage to establish a relationship before his death, but today they share a passion and love for music, and history comes full circle - Edyta is able to continue the artistic dreams unmatched by Irek.Listen the single!
Dziki Bez is a moving lyric, complemented by dreamy guitars and mesmerising vocals. The single's premiere is also accompanied by a unique video, recorded and directed by Edyta in the Portuguese mountains in winter. The song itself was created not only as a form of self-therapy for the artist. It is a kind of manifesto, aimed at arousing attentiveness and sensitivity to the issue of the prevalence of mental illness in society.
BIO: Duxius is the musical project of Edyta Rogowska - a composer, songwriter, instrumentalist and vocalist living in Berlin. To her name, the artist already has a duo-created EP teraz twój ruch (now your move) which premiered in 2021. Today, Edyta is preparing for her solo debut with a full-length album which will come to light later this year. The project is characterized by diversity and fusion - not only of sounds or disparate art forms. Duxius is also - as the name suggests - a linguistic fusion, as Edyta writes songs in three languages: Polish, English and German. The eclectic nature of the project is also reflected in its sound, which is based on broadly defined alternative, but boldly hooks into often distant, genres such as funk, indie, electronica, rock and jazz.
