About Akira Kosemura. Born in Tokyo in 1985. The Japanese composer debuted his first solo album, "It's On Everything", on an Australian label in 2007 while he was still in school. That same year, he founded his own label, Schole Records and garnered good reviews by releasing various albums of crossover genre music featuring the sounds of piano, strings, winds, synthesizers, and field recordings.
Akira’s main composition works include the Cannes 2020 film “True Mothers” directed by Naomi Kawase, the Hollywood drama series “Love Is__”, Nintendo Switch game “Jack Jeanne”, a contemporary ballet theatre “MANON”, and Japan Pavilion in Milano EXPO. His music pieces were used in the Amazon movie “Jonas Brothers CHASING HAPPINESS” and a French movie “Mais vous êtes fous”. He also coproduced a music with American musician Devendra Banhart. Akira was ranked into Spotify’s “Most Played Japanese Artists/Songs Top 10” in 2017 & 2018, and his works has been highly acclaimed on media around the world, including US music media “Pitchfork”, Australian newspaper “THE AGE”, French public broadcast FIP & Radio Canada “Ici Musique”.
Akira Kosemura’s piano pieces between modern classical and electronics are often compared to the works of Nils Frahm, Peter Broderick or Max Richter.
