“Edge of Insanity was founded in the late summer early fall of twenty twenty two. Founded by Drummer Gary Dacus Jr. Originally Edge of Insanity was to be a Ozzy Tribute band.
Around the year two thousand four Gary Dacus and Stergas Stockwell were both in their respective bands in upstate New York. Gary recently Retired from United States Army stationed in Fort Drum, drummed in bands in Central/Upstate NY. Stergas playing and living in Central NY often played nights with one of the bands Gary was playing in. They were loose acquaintances. Now fast forward to late summer early fall two thousand twenty. Gary playing a local gig in the band he was in at the time. Stergas approaches Gary, the two reconnect. Gary mentions having a bassist (Dan Moore), guitarist, vocalist and needing a second guitarist for a project that he'd been trying to put together. Inbetween guitarist and vocalist quit. December two thousand twenty, Gary Don Dacus Jr., Daniel Moore, And Stergas Stockwell get together for the first time to start an origianl Metal/Doom band. Edge of Insanitys music bed is finalzed. Six or seven try outs later with no luck Gary contacts Lance Lutz. Lance comes to one rehersal in February two thousand twenty one. Thats the true birth of Edge of Insanity. Over the next couple months the Doom aspect drops, due to Lances vocal styling requiring more out of the music. The band becomes Old School metal as a result.
Redemption EP:
On March eighteenth Edge of Insanity released it's debut EP, Redemption. Available on all streaming platforms worldwide. The band is also selling physical copies on CD at their events. ‘Redemption’ is a one hundered percent in house production. Produced by Edge of Insanity; Engineered, Mixed and Mastered by the bands guitarist Stergas Stockwell. Recording began in April of two thousand twenty one, which lasted until November two thousand twenty one. Edge of Insanity released it's first single The River in September two thousand twenty one. A music video followed released in February two thousand twenty two.
Redemption begins with Feed. Feed is reminiscient of a track never cut by Black Sabbath off Dehumianizer. It opens and hits you suddenly, akin to Alice In Chains Dirt or Panteras The Great Southern Trendkill. Feed will leave you hungry for more. Next up is Prision. Prision gives you yet again a Black Sabbath (see a trend emerging?) feel. Big open choruses, tasty busy bass lines, solid thunderous beats from the Thunder Beast himself, full torso vibrato, good and chewy guitar riffs (with a hefty bridge/lead break). By the end of the track one may hear some Rammstein influence. Time, ok Judas Priest fans your turn. Time is balls out chasing Rob Halford on Pain Killer vocals. With massive choruses, a tension filled bridge that leads to the release mid solo, and by the end a lone somber piano. Track four, Undertow; features TK Thomas Harris of Texez Mudd taking up lead vocals. Undertow was meant to be an intro for The River and became it's own song. It sets the mood for whats coming on The River which closes the EP. Undertow is full of emotion, it makes one feel as if they're sitting river side in the Missippi Delta, listening to the blues legends of a century ago express their pain.
The River is the first song Edge of Insanity wrote together. The music was established before Lance entered the band. He had the lyrics for years, and through his travels never found the right music bed to lay them in. First rehearsel with Lance is when Edge of Insanity was truly born. The River is more than a song it is the key to the band. ‘The River flows to Redemption and so should you. Redemption includes; Feed, Prison, Time, Undertow, and The River. What do you expect to hear from a band that proclaims to be a Heavy Metal Revivial? Best listening enjoyment option is as track listed. Put it on and relax for twenty five minutes.”
Despite just releaseing an EP is right back at it. We are finishing the writing/pre production phase for a full length album. Expected track count tweleve to fourteen songs.
