SYMPHONIC DEATH METAL


Upiór - a demonic being from Slavic folklore, a prototype of the vampire, a person cursed before death - is a Symphonic Death Metal band founded in France/Poland in 2019 as the collaboration project of two old friends Tomasz “Josh” Jaskula (guitars, bass) and Sebastian “Drache” Stachowiak (keyboards). They used to play together in the 90ties in Poland.


Upiór self-released so far, a single “Reality 2020” (2020) followed by EP “Where Dead Angels Lie” (2021), including a Dissection cover of the same title.


The first full-length album, “The Forest That Grieves,” will be released in March 2022, mixed and mastered in Nostromo Studio – Music Production. The album contains seven tracks intertwined with keyboards intros. The music mixes melodic, fast, and powerful riffs with many blast beats and slower, almost progressive parts backed by powerful orchestrations. There are manly influences from metal music and beyond. From the first seconds of “Haunting Memories,” the listener is hit by the very fast and trashy riff, followed by “Dagon Sleeps” with quick blasts and melodic riffs like in some of the best of breed Black Metal music. But there are many influences from other genres where for example, fasts powerful riffs of “Project Maruta” are halted to make room for a jazzy section and solo. Upiór didn’t try to follow any specific pattern. They made the music they liked.
