The idea of giving life to this internartional project appeared in 2011, when Fauk (Hordagaard) and Marganor (Ereshkigal, Forest of Doom and Black Empire) talked about the possibility of playing together in the same band, leaving aside the borders and thousands of kilometers that separated them (Norway and Mexico). Thus, that same year the name Ravnkald (Raven that lives in the snow) arose and the logo was created, as well as the first songs that would be included in their first record production.
Without any prior demo in 2012 they boasted with the release of “Solsnudag”, their debut album. Musically speaking, it’s been defined as a huge album. They mixed the speed of black metal and the dynamism of pagan metal, to offer a creative, fresh album that grabs from the first listen. Big praise was given to the voice of Anxietous Nero (USA), considered one of the best black metal voices in the warfield. The CD version was released by Azermedoth Records. The success of the album allowed for its re-release in several formats: it was released twice in tape format by two European labels: Metal Throne Productions from Greece and Werewolf Promotion from Poland. To this day, it is still considered one of the most appreciated albums by fans.
After a great feedback from the underground to their debut album, in 2015 they returned with a new sonic assault, this time it was a threeway split with two more excellent bands: Gjallarhorn from Ukraine and Fjörd from Canada. This pagan trilogy was released in cooperation with Azermedoth Records and Wolftyr Records. This new work made the band gain more followers around the world. This time Domos Aidaou, a Colombian composer known for his work with Naxac and Solemne Mortis, took charge of a large part of the compositions. Voice and lyrics were provided by Paul Guhring, manager of Wolftyr Records and leader of the band
Grafvolluth.
That same year the band released "Pure Pagan Blood" thanks to the cooperation of Azermedoth Records (Mexico) and Werewolf Promotion (Poland). The reaction to this record was fantastic, presumably due to its music, full of choirs, acoustics and pagan atmospheres, without neglecting the aggressiveness of black metal. This time the guest of honor was Bornyhake Ormenos (Ormenos, Borgne, Enoid, Kawir, etc.)
With this album Ravnkald's name became bigger by increasing their fanbase especially in Europe. Ravnkald's warship started to become unstoppable. Frontcover artwork created by Dave Jobin of Triskele.
Indomitable, the pagan forces of Ravnkald returned in 2016, this time as a duo, with another full length album, entitled "Ancestral Steel." The music was written by a virtuoso Venezuelan musician named Count Kriegmoon. The hymns created by this South American demon deserve special mention with themes full of glory, ancient mysticism and pagan memories worthy of being remembered.
In 2018 they released “Ecos Paganos”, their latest production, this time under the Mexican label Old Records. Its booklet deserves a special mention for the quality of printing and finishes. Musically, the band went forward on its same path, more pagan than ever.
According to press reviews, the record, with its continuos changes of atmospheres, never sounds boring or monotonous. Two new members were summoned for this work: Agöth Sterpe (Ereshkigal) and Dagon (Heathen Deity from UK).
It’s 2021 and Ravnkald return with their new opus called “The Pagan Resistance”, which shows a more mature side. The new vocalist of the band is Martyr Lucifer, from the Italian acts Hortus Animae and Martyr
Lucifer and the international project Space Mirrors. "The Pagan Resistance" was released by the Mexican label Sun Empire Prods. Without a doubt the fresh sound of this album will be a great leap in their career and delight all the fans.
Artwork designed by the Ukrainian artist Leìt, known for her graphic works with Hortus Animae, Martyr Lucifer and the Norwegian black metal legend Ancient.
The Ravnkald warriors remain unstoppable, again in 2021 the “United by Pagan Blood” CD will also be unleashed, it’s a split album with Grim Sköll, which will be released again by Azermedoth Records from Mexico. Stay tuned for more news to come.

RAVNKALD es una banda internacional de Black Metal Pagano formada en el 2011, creada con el objetivo de rendir culto a los tiempos antiguos de gloria, a las viejas civilizaciones que nos llenaron de tradiciones, relatos místicos y que nos heredaron los valores de amor por la naturaleza, coraje, valor y amor por nuestros seres queridos.
El nombre vino de la mente pagana de Fauk, nuestro vocalista de origen noruego. RAVNKALD significa cuervos que habitan en los ambientes gélidos.
Lord Marganor (ERESHKIGAL, BLACK EMPIRE, FOREST OF DOOM, UNHOLY FUNERAL) tuvo la idea de formar este acto pero con guerreros de otras partes del mundo para rescatar el floklore y las tradiciones de diversas partes del planeta, así que sin tardanza se puso en contacto con Fauk, su viejo amigo noruego (HORDAGAARD) para hablarle del proyecto, de las aspiraciones y los dos convinieron para sacar un disco sin ningún demo previo. El encargado de las voces para este álbum fue el talentoso vocalista Anxietous Nero (HOUSE OF ATRAEUS), originario de Estados Unidos.
El resultado del primer ataque musical fue abrumador. La fuerza y la atmosfera emanada por este trío de almas paganas de inmediato atrajo la atención de propios y extraños. El disco fue titulado “Solsnudag”, lanzado en formato CD a través de AZERMEDOTH RECORDS y dos veces en formato cassette por los sellos METAL THRONE PRODUCTIONS de Grecia y WEREWOLF PROMOTION de Polonia. Lo que habla de la aceptación que tuvo este álbum en la escena del Black Metal pagano a nivel mundial.
Después de una grata acogida por parte del underground a su disco debut, en el 2015 regresaron con un nuevo asalto sónico, esta vez se trató de un three way Split al lado de dos bandas excelentes: GJALLARHORN de Ucrania y FJÖRD de Canadá. Esta trilogía pagana fue editada bajo la cooperación de AZERMEDOTH RECORDS / WOLFTYR RECORDS. Este otro trabajo les sumó más adeptos alrededor del mundo. Con cuatro temas nuevos, RAVNKALD estaba de regreso con su Black Metal pagano. Esta vez Domos Aidaou. Un excelente compositor colombiano (NAXAC, SOLEMNE MORTIS) se hizo cargo de gran parte de las composiciones. La voz y las excelentes letras corrieron a cargo de Paul, el manager de WOLFTYR y líder de GRAFVOLLUTH. GJALLARHORN por su parte, hizo un trabajo enorme. Todos aquellos que disfrutan del acto militante ABSURD, gozarán enormemente de esta banda ucraniana muy parecida a los teutones. Su Black Metal es poderoso, implacable, de excelente manufactura. La banda encargada de cerrar esta trilogía fue FJÖRD. Con un sonido más lento, pausado, pero totalmente poderoso, invocan a los dioses nórdicos para traer de vuelta la gloria de los años de orgullo y sabiduría ancestral. Su música es pesadez en toda la extensión de la palabra. Te encantarán. Aquí la portada de este excelente Split.
Ese mismo año lanzaron el magnífico álbum “Pure Pagan Blood” gracias a una cooperación de los sellos AZERMEDOTH RECORDS (México) y WEREWOLF PROMOTION (Polonia). Este disco es fantástico. Su música está repleta de coros, acústicas y atmosferas paganasm, sin dejar de lado la agresividad del Black Metal. Esta vez el invitado de honor fue Borny de ORMENOS, BORGNE, ENOID, KAWIR, etc. Con este disco el nombre de RAVNKALD se hizo más grande y su número de adeptos aumentó, principalmente en Europa. El navío de guerra de RAVNKALD estaba imparable. Aquí la portada creada por Dave Jobin de la poderosa TRISKELE.
Imparables, las fuerzas paganas de RAVNKALD regresaron en el 2016, esta vez como un dúo, con otro álbum completo, esta vez titulado “Ancestral Steel”. La música fue elaborada por un virtuoso músico venezolano llamado “Count Kriegmoon”. Los himnos creados por este demonio sudamericano merecen mención aparte. Le dieron un respiro a la música. Se trata de temas llenos de gloria, misticismo antiguo y de remembranzas paganas dignas de ser recordadas. Aquí la excelente portada.
En el 2017 editaron uno de los discos más importantes de su carrera, me refiero al increíble “Pagan Warriors United”. Esta vez la música corrió a cargo del ingenioso músico gallego Nox, la mente maestra detrás de la veterana banda XERIÓN. Los temas dieron un vuelco asombroso. Podemos encontrar un disco repleto de composiciones realmente creativas, muy bien tocadas, aderezadas con múltiples arreglos y atmósferas. Otro invitado de honor fue el vocalista Yaocuicatl, líder de las bandas TLATEOTOCANI, YAOCUICATL, DRAGON DE HIERRO, KUKULCAN, etc. El resultado final fue tan bueno, que fue editado en Estados Unidos a través del sello RAZED SOUL RECORDS y en tape profesional por el sello mexicano RITUAL PRODS. A tres años de haber sido lanzado, sigue recibiendo excelentes críticas y una calurosa acogida por parte de los fans del Black Metal pagano alrededor del mundo. Aquí la excelente portada.
En el 2018 lanzaron “Ecos Paganos”, su última producción, esta vez bajo el sello mexicano OLD RECORDS. El booklet merece mención aparte por la calidad de impresión y acabados. La verdad se sacaron un diez. Musicalmente, siguen por el mismo camino, más paganos que nunca, con un sinfín de cambios y atmósferas que evitarán que te llegue a sonar aburrido o monótono. Para este trabajo dos nuevos integrantes fueron convocados: Agöth Sterpe (ERESHKIGAL) y Dagon (HEATHEN DEITY-Inglaterra). Aquí la portada.
RAVNKALD está trabajando muy duro para en este 2020 dar vida a dos nuevos lanzamientos. El primero de ellos será el Split cd “United by Pagan Blood” al lado de su banda hermana GRIM SKÖLL, mismo que será editado otra vez por el sello nacional AZERMEDOTH RECORDS. También su sexto álbum, el cual lleva por título apropiadamente “The Pagan Resistance”. Pronto habrá más noticias, estén pendientes…
