BIOGRAPHY 2005
Approximately ten years ago, when Metal Music was still worthy to carry this name, Massimo Menichetti with other 4 Florentine friends founded the “Evil Zone”. Their Demo-tape contained the songs Dragonia, Survive, Heart Glory, and other tracks.
After a short time “Evil Zone” was dismissed and everyone carried out his own career, while Massimo totally abandoned heavy metal in deep disappointment. In 2002 Massimo Menichetti, after meeting Filippo Ferrucci, newly felt his metal blood boil in his own veins and decided to recreate a group with a new lineup, contacting the former-singer of “Evil Zone” and the keyboard player, Lorenzo Cellerini, an old friend. Initially there were a lot of problems: bass players were not available and the singer didn’t share Massimo’s musical ideas.
As it became clear that the singer was determined to stop with metal, the group had to take a critical decision: whether to continue and go ahead or to end definitively with the Dragonia project. Strikingly Massimo decided that the group had to carry on at any cost. He replaced the singer himself and he still continued being the leading guitar of the band. He was aware of the remarkable effort of this choice, but his strong belief in the Dragonia project and his love for metal music helped him to carry on.
Singing was not a new task for Massimo but he never attempted seriously with heavy metal before Dragonia. Indeed he had always avoided playing guitar and singing at the same time. From their side Filippo and Lorenzo were really surprised of such an effort and courage, but they understood that all together they could give the best of themselves and remained faithful of Massimo in the name of Dragonia.
The first result of this friendship and commitment was the recording of the first three tracks of the group. The drums were recorded in Filippo’s bedroom and the other instruments Massimo’s. After other efforts (legends say that 100 different music tracks were used in order to record Dragonia…) the album Resurrection saw finally the light. This title is inspired to the musical and spiritual life of the band that until that time was dying in the triviality of the ordinary life. Marco Menichetti, Massimo’s brother, who has encouraged him to play Heavy Metal since he was a child, and who never accepted the change of musical tendency of Massimo before Dragonia, thought that this was the moment to wave his own weapons and to join the brother with the bass guitar (15/04/2004).
From that moment on, Dragonia was ready to get out with all its power and strength in the name of the New Wave of Italic Epic Metal. |
