Slow Agony es una banda Paraguaya de Death Metal formada en Marzo de 1991. Los primeros integrantes fueron: Marcelo Arriola (batería); Erwin Leguizamón (guitarra); David Arriola (bajo y voz) y Daniel Torres (guitarra).
En los primeros ensayos, todo era muy improvisado, desde la música hasta los instrumentos, pero el sentimiento y las ganas por subir a los escenarios pudieron más que las contrariedades.
En Noviembre del 91 se presentan por primera vez en un concierto realizado en la Asociación de Músicos del Paraguay, entonces conocido como el “Metalódromo”.
Con un repertorio de más o menos cinco temas, Slow Agony se ganó los aplausos y gestos de aprobación de los headbangers paraguayos. A partir de allí comienza la búsqueda por lograr una estabilidad definitiva en cuanto a su música y sus integrantes. Se suceden varios cambios dentro de la formación, lo que no impide que sigan las presentaciones en vivo afirmándose en la escena local.
En septiembre de 1994 entra a la banda el bajista Eulogio García. Estabilizada la formación, los cuatro guerreros se abocan a la preparación de su primer Demo. Después de varios intentos, en Agosto de 1995 entran a grabar “Fall into the Oblivion”, su primera producción oficial en formato cassette. Éste, fue editado en el mes de Noviembre del mismo año. En Julio del 96, se presentan en Posadas - Argentina, para promocionar “Fall...”, siendo también esta la primera presentación del grupo fuera de tierras paraguayas.
De regreso al país, deja la banda el guitarrista Daniel Torres, iniciándose de nuevo una etapa de búsqueda para estabilizar la formación del grupo.
En Septiembre del mismo año, se integra a la banda el guitarrista Víctor Sarría quedando así la formación: Marcelo Arriola (batería); David Arriola (voz); Eulogio García (bajo), y Víctor Sarría (guitarra).
En Enero de 1997 se edita por segunda vez el Cassette “Fall into the Oblivion”. En Abril, se presentan nuevamente en Posadas - Argentina. En septiembre de ese año, Slow Agony abren el concierto de la banda Alemana SODOM, concierto realizado en Asunción.
A mediados de 1998 editan su segundo Cassette titulado “Live”, con cuatro temas grabados en studio live. Esta edición fue limitada para el Paraguay.
Hacia Julio de 1999 se edita el tercer cassette del grupo: “Weakness Cast Aside”, que los llevó a una gira por varias ciudades del interior del país, así como del exterior, presentándose en ciudades como Sao Paulo y Buenos Aires, con una excelente receptividad de parte del público de esas ciudades.
El año 2000 comienza con la concresión de un anhelado sueño: el primer CD. En Marzo de aquel año se edita “Crumbling Empires”, disco editado por el sello Paraguayo COVENANT PRODUCTIONS, dicho CD fue presentado en Buenos Aires con varios conciertos. De vuelta a Asunción, la banda hizo varios shows promocionando su disco.
En Diciembre de 2001, el sello Argentino Hurling Metal Records, incluye tres temas de Slow Agony en el compilado CD “Nahuel 3”. SLOW AGONY a participado de varios compilados de gran prestigio en la escena underground mundial.
En Marzo de 2.002 deja la banda el guitarrista Víctor Sarria, quedando esta como trío, las partes de guitarra quedara a cargo del guitarrista sesión Ángel Giménez.
En el mes Agosto de 2.002 es editado por el sello Kamikaze Records el segundo CD titulado “Spiritual Euphoria”, con 12 temas de excelente death metal, producido por SLOW AGONY y Rodolfo Brugada. En Diciembre de 2.002 incluyen 7 temas en el conocido SPLIT ”Sudamérica BRUTAL 2”, editado por el sello Argentino HURLING METAL RECODS. Prepárense para una nueva dosis del ultra frenético DEATH METAL de SLOW AGONY, desde Asunción – Paraguay.

Slow Agony is a Paraguayan death metal band formed in march 1991. The first members of the band were: Marcelo Arriola (drums); Erwin Leguizamón (guitar); David Arriola (bass & voice) and Daniel Torres (guitar).
During their first rehearsals, everything was improvised, from the music to the instruments, but the feelings and the strive to jump to the stages were stronger than the obstacles.
In November 1991 they made their first appearance in a concert made at the Asociación de Músicos del Paraguay, known back then as the “Metalódromo”.
With a repertoire of more or less five songs, Slow Agony won itself the applause and the approval of the local headbangers. This started their search to achieve a definitive stability in its music and members. The band goes through several changes in its formation, but this does not impede the continuity of their appearances to the audience, something which gives the band more stability at the local scene.
In September 1994 the bass player Eulogio García becomes a member of the band. The band being stabilized in its formation, these four warriors immerse themselves in the preparation of their first Demo. After several attempts, in August 1995 they begin recording “Fall into the oblivion”, their first official production in audio tape. The tape was edited during November of that year. In July 1996, they make a presentation in Posadas- Argentine, to give promotion to “Fall into the oblivion”, being this their first appearance outside of Paraguayan territory.
After their return, the guitarist Daniel Torres leaves the band, which restarts their search for stability in the band.
In September of that year, the guitar player Víctor Sarría becomes the band’s new member; which leaves the band thus: Marcelo Arriola (drums); David Arriola (voice); Eulogio García (bass), and Víctor Sarría (guitar).
In January 1994 takes place a second edition of their tape “Fall into the oblivion”. In April, they go back to Posadas- Argentina. In September of that year, Slow Agony opens the concert of the German band SODOM, a concert made in Asunción.
During 1998 they edit their second tape named “Live”, with four songs recorded at studio live. This edition was limited for Paraguay.
In July 1999, they make their third recording: “Weakness Cast Aside”, which lead them to a tour through several cities in the countryside, as well as abroad, having performances in cities like Sao Paulo and Buenos Aires, with an excellent welcome by the audience in these cities.
In the year 2000 they began to make come true one of their most anticipated dreams: their first CD. In March they edit “Crumbling Empires”, a disc edited by the Paraguayan studio COVENANT PRODUCTIONS, the CD was presented in Buenos Aires through several concerts. Back in Asunción, the band made several appearances promoting their disc.
In December 2001, Hurling Metal Records from Argentine, includes three songs from Slow Agony in a CD entitled “Nahuel 3”. Slow agony has participated in several compilation of great prestige from the underground world.
In March 2002 the guitar player Víctor Sarria abandons the band, which leaves them as a trio, the guitar is left to a “recordings” guitar player Ángel Giménez.
In the moth of August 2002 their second CD is edited by Kamikaze Records, entitled “Spiritual Euphoria”, which contains 12 songs of death metal at its best, produced by Rodolfo Brugada and Slow Agony. Get ready for a new dose of ultra frenetic Death Metal from Slow Agony, coming from Asunción – Paraguay.
