BIOGRAPHY 2002
Amphitryon is founded in 1996 by Johann Simon (drums) and Matthieu Scarpa (guitar) with Christophe Viandier (black & death voices). Laurent Desvignes (guitar) rejoins six months later. The band is first influenced by other bands like Misanthrope, Dark Tranquillity or Satyricon. The music can be defined as black-doom-death metal.
After a few months, Aurélie Hais (keyboards & voices) and Gianni Leone (bass guitar) join the band. In 1998, Amphitryon get on stage and simultaneously recorded two tracks (Land of Tears / Count Andromalius) on Intramurock #5, a french compilation.
The formation tries to add backing vocals with Gianni. Consequently, the performances in live were improved but Christophe left the band at the same time. So came a period of chaos…
In 2000, Amphitryon decide to reorganize vocals and backings : Laurent take in charge of lead vocals (death voices). The band extend his formation in adding two members, Céline Malfoy and Sarah Barisèle. A choir is performed by every member (except Johann). Finally, Amphitryon come back on stage !
Amphitryon records l'Entremonde, which is a real success ! (according to critics) |
