BIOGRAPHY 2002
History & Sound:
Tzefa (Viper in Hebrew) got its start in 1996 when vocalist and guitarist, Oleg, met drummer, Yuri. Bassist, Alex, joined the band a short time later. The band went through a number of different lead guitarists before Konstantin joined Tzefa in early 2001. Complementing Oleg's diverse vocals, Slava joined the band in mid 2001 bringing her classical vocals and violin. These two major changes gave a fuller, more mature sound to Tzefa's brand of melodic thrash metal and allowed them to expand on sound and genre.
Tzefa's sound is very modern; however, it also incorporates traditional elements of rock and metal. The mix of male and female vocals is used in an original manner, so that neither serves as a distraction. While musically the band is not easy to categorize, some of its music's components have firm foundation in the future, and others show admiration of the past rock and metal masters. Band members like to call their style "loud, obnoxious, operatic metal" but such boundaries should not be put to Tzefa's unique sound.
Discography:
Tzefa's debut EP "Feed Me" was released in March of 2002. All four songs display a great variety of sound. Every song is unique and different, which shows band's ability to keep an original style. One of the songs from "Feed Me" is featured on the "Transcending The Mundane" compilation CD (issue #20).
At the present time Tzefa is performing in the Northeast promoting "Feed Me" to Record Labels, Magazines, Webzines, and anyone else who is willing to listen. They are looking to secure a deal with a record label while continuing to write new music and prepare for shows.
